I'll be discontinuing my WIX site for good due to my introductory price going up to $300 for the new year. I purchased one of their premium plans and added on an art store, but with very few sales it's simply not worth it. A friend of mine reminded me that DeviantArt basically offers something similar with people able to put artwork on tote bags, etc., so I wonder if getting the Core Membership has been worth it for the people who've invested in it. $50 seems like a drop in the bucket compared to what WIX charges, and I definitely need a website for my paintings. Please share with me all the things you love about this membership, and maybe even the things you wish were better. Thanks!

It's been a very long time since I've written a journal entry. I love writing, but I guess the reason why I haven't done any lately is because I wonder how many people read these things. Like, doesn't everyone have better things to do than read random things posted by total strangers? So I won't make this a long one. Several people on this site have been telling me to make a separate Facebook page showcasing my artwork. So I finally did! It would mean a lot to me if you would go take a look. First of all I wanted to make it clear that this journal entry is NOT about bragging because I went on vacation. If any of you know how badly I was down in the dumps before I left, then you understand how important it was for me to take this trip. My luck took a real turn for the worse for a few months. I was constantly depressed and it seemed that things were just becoming worse in every area of my life. I was really going through a rough time. I won't go into any of the real details of it because that's not the focus here. Kaua'i was everything I thought it'd be and more. I think everyone sometime in their lives needs to see this place. The colors, and the birds, the flowers, EVERYTHING. And you're never far away from a beach. I went on two tours, a luau, took a hula class, watched the sun rise and set on the beach, went out to dinner and ate some amazing native foods, met people from around the world, and indulged in all the culture of Hawaii that I could fit into 7 days. It's something I've wanted to do for years now and I feel like a brand new person. I've been home for a week and every night I've had dreams about Hawaii in some form.  It felt like going home.

And please enjoy the pictures I've posted. Most are still in Stash at the moment, but I'm trying to post more everyday.

(I was very bored and haven't done these in a long time. I'll blame the headache and lack of sleep for this one.)

This will be a short-ish journal posting.

We have something called an Art Walk in my town. Once a month in the summer, all the galleries (about 13 or 14 of them) stay open late and offer snacks, drinks, and a chance to mingle with locals. Some are artists, others are everyday folks looking for something to do on a Friday night. Our last Art Walk at the gallery I work at was wonderful. It was also momentous because, for the first time ever, I had the opportunity to have two of my pieces up in a real gallery for public display. I followed the suggestion of a co-worker and had prints made of my art, and low and behold TWO sold within moments of each other. One of the women complimented me and made me promise her that I'd keep drawing. If any of you read my last journal posting, the one about being on art hiatus for several years, you might understand how I feel right now. I will most definitely be drawing more in the future. It just feels like the right thing to do.
